Chicago Area Driving Recommendations

As you’re approaching the Chicagoland area to attend the BCA National Meet in Lisle, your host, the Chicagoland Chapter, wants you to be aware of the following:

IL toll roads: I-88, I-90, I-94, I-294, I-355, and I-390 use a cashless toll collection system. There are no manned toll plazas. You may use a transponder, i.e. EZ Pass. Most transponders from other states are compatible with the IL I-Pass. Without a transponder you may pay the toll on-line or by mail. You have fourteen days to pay the toll. You may also use the Pay By Plate method. The IL transponder cost is $10; but this amount is credited to your I-Pass account.  Go to myIpass.com for further information.

We realize that the toll roads in the Chicago area add to the travel costs, especially if you are pulling a trailer; but many local main roads are so congested, esp. truck traffic, stop lights, railroad crossings, etc. that for ease of travel and peace of mind, we recommend using them.

The following routes are PREFERRED for coming into the Chicago area: CAUTION Your GPS may route you to a non-preferred route.

From the East:

Coming thru / from Indiana – I-80-90W (IN toll), I-94W, and to I-80-94W ( IN toll), (Exit 21) to I-80W (toll)  Follow I-80W into IL to I-355N (toll) (Exit 140) to Lisle, Exit (11) Route 34W, Ogden Ave. I-65 to I-80-94W (Exit 259 A) Follow I-80W to I-355N (toll) (Exit 140) to Lisle, (Exit (11) at Route 34W Ogden Ave. In short, stay on I-80W from IN to I-355N IL.

DO NOT take the Chicago Skyway I-90 (toll), it’s very expensive, congested and exits in the central part of the city. We also recommend avoiding the following Interstate routes due to construction, heavy volume of traffic, especially truck traffic: I-57N IL, I-94W in IL (Bishop Ford Expressway) I-90-94W IL (Dan Ryan), I-290W IL (Eisenhower Expressway)

From the West:

I-80 to I-355N (toll) (Exit 140) to route 34W, Ogden Ave ( Exit 11 ) Lisle I-88 (toll) to (Exit 131), route 34W Ogden Ave. to Rte.53N, Lincoln Ave. OR routes. 20 or 34.

From the South:

I-55N to route 53N ( Exit 267) into Lisle. I-57N to I-80W (Exit 345B) (toll) to I-355N (toll) (Exit 269) to route 34W (Ogden Ave.).

From the North: WI

I-90,I-94 (both toll in IL) We suggest routing yourself to I-355S (toll) then to route 34W (Exit 11) to Lisle.
